“My wish is to provide a calm environment for you to immerse yourself within the serene beauty of your practice, transferring ancient yogic wisdom leaving you feeling restored, re-energised and peaceful. Ready to deal with daily life off the mat”.
Blue Dog Yoga based in Salcombe, Devon is founded by Jules Turner. Practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow, class emphasis is placed on breathing techniques, alignment and drishti (focal points).
“I feel passionate about the health and well-being benefits achieved through a regular yoga practice and my desire is to share those learnings with you”.
Yoga is often interpreted in the West as a physical (asana) practice. But asana is just one aspect of Yoga as systemised and documented by the great Sage Patanjali. Breath techniques, meditation and spiritual adherence to ethical codes and observances also make up the yoga values, commonly referred to as the 8 Limbs of Yoga.
My introduction to yoga started at the age of 16 and since then I have included yoga in my life, practicing different styles including Hatha, Bikram, Ashtanga, Yin and Vinyasa Flow.
Working in Global Telecommunications for 25 years, Yoga played an important role in helping me stay mentally and physically fit whilst juggling a busy life and the challenges of a demanding career.
Moving to Salcombe created the opportunity to dedicate more time to explore my yoga practice and fulfill a desire to become a yoga teacher. I trained at Sampoorna, a traditional yoga school in India and immersed myself within the philosophical and ethical behaviours which lie behind a yoga practice and completed studies on anatomy, philosophy and teaching methodology. I qualified in Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow at Sampoorna Yoga Training School under the spiritual guidance of Sri. Sadir Rishi, Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Martin Sittek and Maria Macsay, Anatomy and Vinyasa Flow Teacher. I am also qualified to teach Yin Yoga and trained under the expert guidance of Angela Jervis-Read. I am fully insured and registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals UK as a qualified yoga instructor.
Having the unique experience of embracing the warm and authentic yogic way of life triggered a deep love for all that Yoga means and I’m fortunate to be able to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga in the beautiful South Hams area of Devon. I take the learnings gained from Ashtanga and Bikram Yoga to develop creative Vinyasa Flow sequences based on yoga beliefs with a strong focus on technique, helping Students to deepen their practice, increase strength and flexibility whilst also challenging their practice. Breath work is an important feature of my classes, enabling the student to experience a moving meditation which focuses the concentration, removing external distractions in order to achieve a quiet and calm mind.
My hope is that you leave your practice feeling re-energised, calm and restored having experienced the full aspects of yoga as you move through your personal yoga journey, helping to achieve a strong body and mind.
Namaste
